We are Volunteers

Wogen Children and Mothers Support Association Seattle Chapter (WCMSAS) is a non profit organization incorporated in state of Washington. WCMSAS is established to support the mission of promoting access to safe, adequate and clean water, sanitation, healthcare and education to hard up and remote communities. WCMSAS recently include assistance of jobless youth in its to do list. As a non profit organization, no part of the earnings or benefits will be distributed among the members or trustee officers or other private individuals or entities. Hundred percent of the fund raised will be spent on projects. WCMSAS is not affiliated to any religion, race or ethnic group or political party. Hence WCMSAS does not discriminate based on gender, race, religion or political belief or national origin.

The inception of WCMSASC was at the request of community members of Woyraber in Gondar Ethiopia who had severe water problems.
WCMSASC was Incorporated on April 6, 2011 in the State of Washington USA as a non-profit charitable organization.

Legal Status:

Owned and administered by Board. Registered as a chartable non-profit organization with 501 c (3) incorporated in the State of Washington, USA.

Organization Policy

No part of the earnings or benefits will be distributed among the members or trustee officers or other private individuals or entities. Wogen is not affiliated to any religion, race or ethnic group or political parties.  And hence wogen does not discriminate based on gender, race, religion or political belief or national origin.
All documents will be filed properly and maintained at the office.
No officer will be compensated for all parts of service provided except refunding transportation expenses when a personnel is fully dedicated for a project (s) out of local areas. 
The total amount of restricted gifts or donations will be used for the purpose for which it was given.
At times Wogen will not join a venture with a for profit organizations 
100 % of the net worth is used to accomplish approved projects approved by the director of boards.

Members of the board and officers have different levels of experiences and education background.

Main Operation area: Ethiopia

Focus Population: Needy communities mainly where governmental and non-governmental organizations could not reach out.

Major Objectives:
– To help needy communities with emphasis of children and mothers to get adequate clean water, sanitation, education and healthcare and Empowerment and Integration of Youth and Bridging the Divid and Uplifting Mothers

Specific Objectives

a. Water – construct underground water sources, build new water wells and/or develop streams in cooperation with community members that require the project
To make adequate clean water available for human drinking, livestock and sanitation
b. Education – to help maintenance and/or construction of schools
– To donate school supplies and materials such as desks, chairs, books and
– laboratory supplies
– To help poor students who are outperforming but are on the verge of
dropping school because of lack of assistance or financial distress.
c. Health Care: to help desperate clinics and Health Care Centers get supplies such as PPE and other small supplies
d. Development and Humanitarian – Assist other small non-governmental organizations operating in the communities where WCMSAS is functioning mainly in resettling the displaced and reach out for emergency assistance.
e. Empowering Mothers and Youth
– To homeless/destitute youth for empowering them by supporting self-initiated small
Businesses and help them to be integrated with the community
To assist mothers be able to work to create a bridge for subsistence and uplift them for progress

Achievements

1. Construct water well at Mersha Zeleke – Chachikuna locality in Gondar Ethiopia in 2012
Benefited over 360 family members to get clean drinking water for humans and their livestock and washing trough for sanitation.

2. Saringe Anchew Mikael locality Gondar Ethiopia – Mainly developing the project, dealing with the community and got the land and cooperation in 2013.

3. WCMSAS was the initiator and conductor of fund raising and distribution of food and construction supplies for 4 natural disaster stricken localities in Gondar area in 2013-2014. This project was done in cooperation with Task Force for Natural Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation based in the State of Texas with state ID 801657446 which is demolished after the population was settled.

4. Sabia Giorgis locality Gondar Ethiopia. With high involvement of the community and their choice was only to get human and livestock drinking trough in 2015

5. Kega Mesk at Chira-Ambezo locality in Gondar Ethiopia water well which serves over 350 families in dire need of clean adequate water for them and their livestock. Done in 2016.

6. WCMSAS donated 60 chair-desk combos that could help up to 240 students to sit and learn at Quacha Mender School in Zengaji locality Gondar Ethiopia in 2017.

7. Diba Abo Locality in Gondar Ethiopia water-well constructed that helped 900 students and 300 families get clean and adequate water. Done in 2018

8. WCMSAS donated 50 chair-desk combos that will make up to 200 students get seat to learn at Zeraege Middle School Gondar Ethiopia. Done in 2019.

9. Donated $5000 to Generation-to-Generation Development Association Inc. so that their members match one to one to resettle displaced people in Gondar area in 2019.

10. WCMSAS was the principal part of Chachikuna High School construction starting from initiation, planning, construction and completion in closer cooperation with Chachikuna Education and Health Support Association. In this process, Microsoft Employees Give Program helped WCMSAS to raise reasonable amount of money. WCMSAS’s membership number to Benevity cause is 900735476 (Please, refer causes.benevity.org).

11. WCMSAS also was involved in fulfilling materials for town of Sanja Vocational school in Gondar Ethiopia in 2015. The Cooperation was made with Armachiho Aid and Development Association Inc.


12. WCMSAS helped construction of a water well for Chachikuna High School to serve for Students, School community and the neighboring community and books for 9th and 10th grade students in 2020.


13. WCMSAS donated 28 state of the art white and green boards with two sides in one for Addis Zemen Comprehensive High School in 2021.


14. WCMSAS in cooperation with Mr. Birhanie Abebe Wogen Board accountant donated 100 chair-desk combo for Gelediba/Chilga in Gondar. In 2022. A unit of 4 class rooms was built for Belwuha middle school, Chilga Ethiopia. .For Ayikel Comprehensive High school, covered 1.3 million Eth birr for remodeling towards foundation work 2022. To Dirmara Tsion Junior secondary school in East Denbia Gondar got multiple supports from WCMSAS that include construction of one unit with 4 classrooms, 100 desk-chair combo and subject matter books . WCMSAS also donated 100000 Ethiopian birr for Koladiba High school construction project in 2022. In the meantime, a conference for teachers from six school districts was organized as part of the peace and volunteering initiatives. Similar endeavor was also done for 7 localities in Chilga area where there were severe conflicts between Kimant and Amjara nationalities. .These initiatives played very vital role in calming conflicts among different tribal members.


15. Iarious inter-school question and answer competitions were also sponsored by WCMSASC that include 6th graders, 8th grade and 12th grade students to prepare student for state exams. These were done in 2022 and 2023. And one was done in Central Gondar zone in 2024.


16. Since 2023 WCMSASC has started supporting homeless and suffering poor youth and needy mothers in empowering and integration program
In 2023 a total of 50 youth and 40 mothers were supported to start their own small businesses. In 2024 total of 40 Youth and 40 mothers were supported in four different towns. Overall, the success rate was 86.3% . There were only 13.7% unsuccessful because of health or security issues. This project is going to continue in a modified way in the future starting 2026 by inclusion of a revolving fund. We are discussing with senior economists for a guideline.


17. In 2024 WCSASC supported the completion of a stalled library construction project in Limat Ber High School The library is inaugurated and is functional at this time. Moreover, in 2025 very recently WCMSASC was a factor for planning and completion of underground water construction in cooperation with Limat Ber Alumini. The water construction is also officially inaugurated and functional at this time.
Future Plans: WCMSAS will continue to provide services to the community with 100% of the money spent on the projects without any administration fees.

Donors have the right to ask WCMSASC progress report anytime and know where their money is spent.
WCMSASC:
1. Will continue to construct water wells for needy communities with major emphasis to Children and Mothers
2. Will continue to help schools and students in dire need of assistance.
3. Will continue to cooperate with organizations that are helping the poor and needy communities residing in remote areas where governmental and other non-governmental organizations are not reaching to address dire problems within the limit of WCMSAS’s general and specific objectives.

Contact Person:

Assefa Tefferi, Registered agent and project coordinator and organizer
Assefa worked as a senior researcher in Agricultural science focusing in plant protection for 16 years in Ethiopia. He was a pioneer in corn pathology when he was working as the first corn pathologist for the national Maize Team in Bako Ethiopia. He had a chance to see every locality and districts of Ethiopia. That made him very interested to be a philanthropist with belief of transparency and honesty.
Assefa lives now in the Seattle Washington working as a nurse for the last 22 years.
WCMSASC’s major donors are the Landers family and Teel Family foundation.
WCMSASC is preparing to celebrate its 15 years of establishment.

Organizational Profile

Wogen Children and Mothers Support Association Seattle Chapter is committed to serve communities that have water shortage or scarcity, healthcare, education and sanitation problems. We also support other non-profit organizations and emergency human atrocities.

Wogen supports Education

One of the main objectives of Wogen is support for education. After signing memorandum of understanding with Chachikuna Education and Health Support Association (CEHSA), Wogen was highly involved from initiation to completion of Chachikuna High School construction. Wogen was a factor by assigning its members to be part of fund raising and consulting CEHSA. As organization by directly donating and encouraging its donors to directly help the school construction and raising funds. For example, Wogen raise $6000 from microsoft give program in October 2016 and directly donated the money to the school construction.
